In 1998, I participated in an international volunteer experience, teaching Japanese for university students and observing social service systems in Nepal. This experience inspired me to pursue my career in the field of social services. As an undergraduate intern, I worked with children whose parents have developmental disabilities, parent's support groups, and also in the state of Oregon Child Protective Agency, assisting domestic adoption, and then at Holt International, assisting international adotpion process in Eugene, Oregon. My internship experience includs oversea volunteer experiences of working in an orphanage in Bangkok, Thailand. After college, I worked full time with teens who were diagnosed as Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) at Fred Finch Youth Center in Oakland in 2002, while also volunterring at Asian Women's Shelter as an MLAM (language advocates). From 2003 to 2006, I worked with Serra Center, as a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP) working with adults (Regional Center clients) with developmental disabilities and various mental health problems in Fremont. As a QMRP, I was responsible for the supervision of 3 Intermediate Care Facilities –Developmentally Disabled Habilitatve) Homes (ICF-DDH) that are licensed by the Department of Health Services, per Title 22 regulations. As part of my Mater's of Social Work program (MSW), I worked as an intern therapist at San Mateo County Mental Health in 2005-2006 providing therapy with public elementary, junior high, and high school children and families with various emotional problems, such as depression and behavioral issues. In 2006-2007, as an MSW intern therapist at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center PACE Clinic, I provided therapy with Spanish Speaking individuals and families with HIV/AIDS. Since July, 2007, I have been working full time as a Child Protective Social Worker with the County of San Mateo, investigating child abuse/neglect invloving juvenile court system, mostly with Spanish Speaking cleints in the community of East Palo Alto and Redwood City. Currently, as an LCSW, I additionally provide counseling and therapy in evenings and weekend. I have over 14 years of social work experiences and can work with diverse population as I speak Japanese, English and Spanish.
