Born and raised in Japan, I started my volunteer experiences in the field of social work in 1998. I was a volunteer Japanese teacher in Nepal. This experience inspired me to pursue my educational and professional career in mental health. While in college, I worked as a volunteer child caregiver in Thailand, and later worked as an MLAM (language advocate) at Asian Women’s Shelter in San Francisco. At the beginning of my social work career, I gained experiences at various non-profit social services agencies, outpatient clinics, and state and county governmental agencies.
I became a licensed psychotherapist since 2012, and provided counseling services through public schools, residential treatment program, and court mandated counseling cases for children, youth and families in San Mateo County.
I currently work as a Clinical Care Manager at Stanford University. My private practice is at small scale, but I feel passionate about offering support in the community right where I live.
